My family and I thank so many of you for the kind expressions of love shared
with us during the Christmas season. We appreciate the gifts, cards, and
opportunities to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
with you.
Often, at this time of year, we look back on the past year. This week, I
have been looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities of 2019. None
of us knows what the new year will bring to our families, our church, or
our world. But our heavenly Father knows and promises to take care of His
children. That is why it is so important to pray.
As we begin a new year, I want to challenge each one of you to join me in
praying for one another, our churches, and the many needs we see all
around us. During the month of January, as we conclude the season of
Christmas, I would like for us to consider entering a “Season of Prayer” together.
Imagine if Gods people all committed to seek God through prayer more
fervently than ever before. What might that mean for our families, our
friends, our churches and our world? The Bible talks about many occasions
when Gods people devoted themselves to prayer. Many times, God revealed
Himself in great and mighty ways. Other times, the hearts of the people
were revived.
We all know the powerful words of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14, if My
people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek
My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Our Lord promises that
He will hear our prayers and answer according to His good and perfect
will. Join me and your church family in this Season of Prayer for one
another, our churches and our world.
God Bless You
Bro. Joe
